Product Review Beauty Cosmetics Travel Size 13 PCS Brush Set
Part of achieving a flawless make up, brushes plays big role on it. Pores can be refined; face can be seamlessly contoured and smoky eyes looks effortlessly elegant when it was properly blended with a good brush. Investing in a good makeup brush can be hurtful on one’s pocket (think of Mac, Sigma and other good high-end brushes out there); the good thing is, nowadays many there are several local online and physical stores that were producing good quality makeup brushes for inexpensive price.
When Beauty Cosmetics, a local online store announces that they will have a booth at Beauty Fair 2013 (last September) I didn’t pass on the chance to check them out and finally buy my first ever brush set. I have bought a very cheap blending eye shadow brush from them before and I am amused how good the brushes are.
Contents - The set contains 13 travel size makeup brush pieces:
The brushes were enclose in a tribal printed fabric case. I like that each brushes was plastic wrapped, so that the handle is free from scratches and the brush hair is in neat shape.
Price: Php 900 Bought from: Beauty Cosmetics
Let’s have a look at each brush:
Foundation Brush: Personally I use this as a concealer brush or whenever I apply contouring foundation. The hair texture is bristly that it usually leaves brush marks whenever I use this when applying foundation.
Small Slanted Blush Brush (can also serve as contour brush): I usually use this one for applying bronzer and contouring powder, it is a little bit small for applying blush on, which I normally use buffing or powder blush to work on with.
Powder/ Contour/ Blush Brush: This is the biggest brush in the set and one of my favorite. It can be use as brush when applying setting powder, it large enough for applying well blended blush on powder and since its bristle was shaped in oval form this is also a good sculpting brush for well defined cheekbones and jawline.
Buffing Brush: This brush is great for applying cream foundation, it doesn’t leave any brush mark since the bristle is soft.
Concealer Brush: This one has the same bristles from foundation brush. Personally I rarely use this one but whenever I do I usually use it when applying concealer under my eyes or doing some contouring at the side on my nose.
Eyebrow Spoolie Brush: Well the name says it, if you want to soften your brow line or clean up the scattered brow hair this is the tool.
Lipstick Brush: Just like the foundation and concealer brush, the bristles of it is firm and smooth enough to easily apply makeup.
Large Blending Brush: I usually use this one for putting on highlighter on my face. The size of it is good enough for me not to overly apply highlighter.
Small Blending Brush: Aside from buffing brush, this one of the brushes in the set that were constantly washed. I used this when blending eye shadows, or whenever I want to achieve a good wash effect on smokey eye.
Eye Shadow Shader Brush: I find this shader brush too large for my eyes but really good at shading the side of my nose and under my chin and even applying a highlighter on my brow bone and cupid’s bow.
Eye Shadow Slanted Brush: Among eye brushes included in the set this is my favorite. The brush is flexible to use in applying eyeshadow in any part of the eye. I can easily put highlight on the inner corner of the eye or blend a medium shade eyeshadow under my eye. Since this brush is slanted one I can easily make a cat eye makeup effect.
Angled Brow Brush: I actually never get to use this brush until now because I do my eyebrows with eyebrow pencil.
Bent Eyeliner Brush: I like the concept of this brush being bent so you can easily apply the eyeliner cream, which is one of those makeups that I find very hard to apply. I rarely use it though because I prefer slated brush or eyeliner pencil when doing my eyeliner.
Hair: The brush is made of synthetic hairs called taklon. Taklon hair brushes just like this one have this smooth, soft, and somewhat fragile quality. At that time, there are two brush colors that were being sold, the dark haired one and the light colored one. I prefer the later one because I can see right away if the brush needs some cleaning. Talking about brush cleaning I have already washed this brush set for more three time and so far I haven’t seen any hair fall offs and they’re still in good shape. If you want to see how I clean my makeup brush click here.
Handle: I assume that the brush handles were made of wood that is coated with thick acrylic paint. The feel of it were right enough during make-up application. I have some brushes that were too light to handle that I end up applying my makeup heavy handed. Before I forgot, the acrylic coating of this brush is fragile, so be careful not to drop it a lot. I’m always a clumsy person that my day won’t last without dropping or bumping into anything and this brush is the latest victim:
Ferrule: When I hold the ferrule and brush handle it doesn’t loose or spin. It was securely attached to the brush handle. So far I haven’t seen any rust coming out from the ferrule after several times of washing it, so I assume that it is made of stainless steel metal. It is also tough enough that I even squeezed it hard to see if the metal will bend or get a dent but it’s not.
What I like about it:
- It is a complete set, from eyebrow brush to contouring brush it’s all in here
- It comes with a case
- It’s compact so you can bring it easily whenever you travel
- The brushes were aesthetically looks good and sosyal
- It’s affordable for a promo price of Php 900 you get 13 pcs of good quality makeup brushes
What I don’t like about
- I’m sorry I was completely sold on to this. I really like the brush set that I can’t find anything I don’t like about it as of right now.
All in all this is a good quality and complete makeup brush set that I would recommend for those budding makeup enthusiast. With the right way of cleaning, this brush can last a long time. The brush set is compact enough perfect bring along when you’re traveling.
